Hello and welcome back to the blog. This is a reflection blog since we are nearing the end of the project. Our beginning exceptions of the project was to have people come out donate cloths and play dodge ball. This was a lot like how the final project turned out except for the fact that we played more than dodge ball. We first planed it to be a later weekend in January. Most likely a Friday. We had a place almost instantly because of the fact that Parker's dad is a leader of a church with a gym. We had it set up where anyone could come and play and we were going to have two different brackets. At first we were going to have people show up and donate cloths, then we were going to take the clothes to the Salvation Army. That fell through however because they never got back in touch with us. So we found a more local spot called The Bethalto Community Hope Center. So really not much changed from what we wanted to happen to what did happen. Only thing that changed was that we changed the date to a earlier date in February. Also not that many people showed up which is one thing that I could have done a better job at. I did not get the word out like I wanted to. All in all I believe that the project was a success. Everyone that went had a good time playing games, we got a lot of clothes for the hope center, and we all got together and made it happen.

Hello and welcome back to the blog. This week for the project was a big one as we finally had the event! I would say that it was a big success. We ended up having around 15 people there and we got a lot of clothes for the Hope Center. We had food and drinks that were provided by Parker, we had the dodge balls themselves provided by Tyler, and we had a bunch of different games that we played. We started with Dodge ball but as the night went on we noticed that we couldn't do it all the time so we played basketball and kickball. As a individual I looked over the event and tried to make everything fun and fair. Though this was tough because not everyone likes fallowing the rules. As a group we set everything up, got all the cloths in a bag, and just had fun with it. We did play some of the games (as in all of them) but can you really have a fun event and not participate. Everyone in the group brought some cloths to the event as well so that is even more that the Hope Center will get.
Hello and welcome back to the blog. Happy new years everyone. For this blog we are talking about what we will resolve to accomplish a deadline for a sign up and also a place to sign up. I made a flyer with all of the information on it. Parker and I worked to get a set in stone date for the event: February 8. To sign up you can text me at (618)-979-3148. Teams of up to 5 members or be a spectator. For this new year I would like to help my group do more work and stop getting sidetracked. I could do this by making the conversation more about what we need to do in the day. Also for me to not start talking about things that are not part of our project. In the group changes we need to really focus more because we have wasted a lot of time and we need to start really getting to work. I believe that we can this by getting ready to work faster and only working.
Hello, my name is Matthew and I am one of four members of our 20 time project. In our group there is Jake, Parker, and Tyler. For our project we hosting a dodge ball tournament called "Dodge for a Cause". For this we have a few things to get done. First, we have to get enough dodge balls so that there can be games to play. Next, we have to find a place to hold the event. Then, we have to get people to sign up and get a team together. Also, we have to make a bracket for middle school aged kids and high school and up aged people. The cost to get in to the event will be one clean and useful article of clothing that the Salvation Army suggested. Before you enter the event you will give your article of clothing to one of our members and your name will be checked off a list. My job for the event is to share the word about this and really get people involved in our community. We also will to contact the Salvation Army to see if we can get on of their members to come down and help us with the event. We are working to get a place and a time for everything. We are also looking to get snacks for purchase and drinks for purchase. For this week we found a place to hold the event. Parker, a member of our group, has a family member who works as a pastor at cornerstone church and is letting us use the gym as our event. Thank you for reading, we will keep you updated as our group progresses. |
